UPS Keeps Beeping? This Could Be the Cause!

UPS is an important electrical device to protect your electronic goods from interference. But, have you ever heard a UPS beeping continuously?

It turns out that the sound is a warning signal or alarm code if something is wrong with your Easy UPS BVX! Each alarm sound also has a different meaning, depending on the reason.

The following article will explain the causes of the alarm codes that occur on the APC UPS model Easy UPS BVX Series 700VA, 900VA, 1200VA, 1600, 2200VA. Let's take a look!

What is an APC UPS?

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is an electrical device that provides backup power when the main power is out or interrupted. The UPS works by collecting electrical power from the main power source and will continuously charge its internal battery. Then, when the power goes out, the UPS battery will be immediately activated as a backup power source, so that electronic devices can continue to operate for some time.

This device also has an alarm code or warning signal when there are certain conditions or something that needs attention. This can be indicated by an alarm sound and also an LED light. Of course, you should not ignore the alarm code.

By understanding the meaning of each alarm code, you can take the right action for the conditions that are taking place, thus helping the UPS and electronic devices to remain in good performance.

What do the APC UPS Alarm Codes Mean?

LED On, Sound Alarm Off

Condition: On-Line, namely Easy UPS is distributing AC power to the connected equipment. You don't need to worry because this is a sign that the UPS is operating normally and is distributing electrical power from the main source to the connected device.

LED On, Sound Alarm Sounds Continuously with a Constant Tone

Condition: On-Line Overload, namely the power used by the connected device has exceeded the unit's capacity. The way to overcome this is to disconnect some of the connected devices.

LED On, Sound Alarm Sounds Continuously Every 1/2 Second

Condition: Over Temperature Detected, namely the unit is too hot and will operate in AVR mode for 1 minute. Easy UPS will turn off if the temperature is not lowered. The solution is to disconnect some of the connected equipment.

LED On, Alarm Sound Sounds 4 Repeated Beeps Every 30 Seconds

Condition: If the LED is on and then off for 4 beeps, it means the condition is With Battery, that means the Easy UPS is supplying its battery power.

LED Flashing, Alarm Sound Sounds Continuously Every 1/2 Second

Condition: Low Battery, that is, Easy UPS is supplying battery power and the battery is almost empty.

LED Flashing, Alarm Sound Sounds Continuously with Constant Tone

Condition: Replace Battery Detected, which is a sign that the battery needs to be charged or its service life is over.  If you want to take action on the battery, there are some notes that need to be considered, namely:

  • If the battery is removed, unplug the Easy UPS from the AC source first, then turn it off.
  • If the battery needs to be replaced, you can see how in the "Battery Replacement" section in the manual book.

LED Off, Audible Alarm Sounds Short Beeps Every 4 Seconds

Condition: Low Battery Shutdown, meaning that during Battery Power operation, the battery power is almost completely depleted, and the Easy UPS is waiting for the AC power to return to normal.

LED Off, Audible Alarm Sounds Continuously with Constant Tone

Condition:

  • On Line Overload Error, the connected device requires more power than is provided by the Easy UPS. The way to overcome this is to remove the devices one by one to eliminate the overload. However, if the detected problem is still not resolved, you can contact SEIT Technical Support.
  • Charger Detection Error, meaning that the Easy UPS has been detected to have an internal problem and is no longer supplying power. To overcome this condition, you can contact SEIT Technical Support directly.

LED Off, Long Beeping Alarm Sound Every 4 Seconds

Condition: Over Temperature Error Detected, which is Easy UPS overheating and shutting down. The way to fix this is to unplug the connected devices one by one, or you can also wait for a few hours for the system to cool down first.

By understanding the UPS alarm code, you can solve minor problems that occur when the UPS beeps continuously. However, if the problem persists, contact a technician immediately!
