A contactor is an electrical device in the form of an electrically controlled switch, where this device can control the flow of electric current with large power. The thing that differentiates a contactor from a switch is that the contactor is operated by a low-power control circuit, so it is more energy efficient and safe to use.
The function of the contactor is to disconnect and connect electric current electrically.
The way this contractor works is by electromagnetic induction in a coil of conductor in the form of a copper coil, which is usually called a coil. When the coil is given an electric current, it will create a magnetic field, which will cause the NO (normally open) auxiliary contact to close and the NC (normally closed) auxiliary contact to open.
In contactors, there are two terms: moving contact and fixed contact. When the electric current flowing to the coil is turned off, the magnetic field will disappear. However, because the coil is equipped with a spring, the contact will reopen automatically. If you are looking for the best quality contactor, use Schneider Electric's contactor.
Schneider Electric has 4 types of contactors that can be used according to your needs, namely TeSys Deca, TeSys Giga, TeSys K, and Easy TeSys.
