Schneider Electric's Varlogic controller permanently monitors the plant's reactive power and controls the connecting and disconnecting of capacitor stages to achieve the targeted power factor. If overvoltage, low power factor, or overcompensation occur, the alarm relay will activate. Users can set the power factor from 0.85 inductive to 1. The new control algorithm is designed to reduce the number of switching operations and quickly achieve the targeted power factor.

Monitoring and Protection

Alarms

  • Should an anomaly occur on the network or the capacitor bank, alarms are indicated on the screen and alarm contact is initiated.
  • The alarm message is maintained on the screen once the fault clears until it is manually removed.

Protection

  • If necessary, the capacitor steps are automatically disconnected to protect the equipment.
