Types of Changeover Switch L&T

Changeover Switch L&T, what are the types and complete specifications?

Changeover Switch is an important electrical device for industrial productivity. This is because COS ensures that industrial operational activities continue to run even if there is a disruption to the main power source.

To be able to determine the right COS device according to your industry needs, check out this article, which contains information about how it works, types, and complete specifications of COS L&T. Let's go!

Changeover Switch L&T

Changeover Switch is also known by the abbreviation COS. This device is an electrical switch that allows a load to be changed from one power source to another and vice versa, either manually or automatically.

Usually, this Changeover Switch device is used to transfer loads from the PLN voltage source to the Generator Set (Genset). Therefore, COS is a very important device in electrical installations with generators.

As a major manufacturer of electrical distribution equipment, monitoring solutions, and control in the low voltage category, L&T Electrical & Automation (E&A) presents a range of reliable changeover switch products. Its products are designed to meet the needs of various important economic sectors, such as industry, utilities, infrastructure, buildings, and agriculture.

The L&T changeover switch is a unique device that combines simplicity with high performance and convenience, making it the most advanced product in changeover technology.

How the L&T Changeover Switch Works

As a transfer switch, the L&T Changeover Switch works by changing the flow of electrical energy from the main source to an alternative backup source when a power failure occurs. The device will isolate the alternative power source from the main source during a power outage or to prevent the possibility of overload.

Then, when power has been restored to the main source, the device can divert electrical power back to the main source. Basically, this switch device acts as a bridge to connect two electrical sources by changing its contacts so that electricity can flow from the alternative source if the main source does not provide sufficient electrical power. This contact change can be done manually or automatically, depending on the type of switch used.

Types of L&T Changeover Switches

Like COS devices in general, the L&T Changeover Switch is available in two types, namely Manual and Motorized. For a more complete explanation of the specifications of both types, you can see below!

Manual Changeover Switch L&T

Spesification:

  • Changeover Switch L&T has a range of 63A to 2000A, 415V, AC 32A, 4P
  • The closed version does not require a separate cable gland box
  • Includes Source Separator and Phase Barrier
  • There is a Terminal Shroud with a touch-proof design, which can prevent accidental touching of the active terminal, and because the terminal shroud is hinged, it can be rotated 90 degrees, and the terminal can be checked without removing this shroud
  • The presence of Staggered Terminal makes it easy to plant cables
  • Manual Changeover Switch L&T is suitable for vertical or horizontal installation
  • There is a source separator that can be used to isolate the two incoming supplies and eliminate the possibility of sparks between the two supplies due to the accidental fall of external objects
  • Inter-phase barrier as additional security to eliminate the possibility of short circuits between phases
  • Castell Lock is an accessory that is useful for locking the COS L&T

Motorised Changeover Switch L&T

Spesification:

  • Changeover Switch L&T has a range of 125A to 2000A, 415V, AC32A, 4P (voltage control 240 VAC)
  • No change in device dimensions (LxWxH) from motorised and manual changeover switches
  • There is a padlock in the OFF position
  • Available for manual or auto options
  • The motorised type has a simpler design
  • There is a selector switch that can activate or deactivate the control supply for the L&T Motorised Changeover Switch
  • Electric operation can only be done in automatic mode. While manual mode allows the user to operate the motorized changeover switch manually using the handle safely.
